Since Peggy is in her Paris mode, when I saw an ad in our local paper that Paris, je t'Aimewould be playing soon, I just had to check it out. Seems like a great movie if you love Paris and all the romantic possibilities it holds. It's done in scenes by different directors for roughly each of Paris' 20 districts, so there are bound to see some parts you really like! I chose the Spanish trailer, 'cause the film in is in English, about French Paris, so why not help out our Spanish friends too?
I'll let the Wikipedia summarize the rest - at least till I can get down to see it for myself...
Paris, je t'Aime: Quais de Seine. - This scene is directed by Gurinder Chadha and stars Cyril Descours & Leïla Bekhti. Doesn't really need subtitles, does it? !-->!-->
Sometimes you hear songs that are so haunting, you can't get them out of your mind. For me, this is one of them. It was sent to me by the lovely Midori and she also was kind enough to provide an English translation.
Also I found a video on Youtube with another version of the song...

English translation by "Midori":
You said Ding Xiang Hua (Lilac) is your favourite Because that's your name How melancholy the flowers are How sentimental the people are When the flower withers time When the picture freezes How delicate the flowers are Not able to survive the storms (Wind + rain) Fluttering and swinging life How many beautifully weaved dreams
You left in a hurry Leaving me all the worries of a lifetime Aren't those blooming flowers in front of the graveyard the beauty you longed for? Looking all over the mountains and plains, do you still feel the loneliness? Listen, someone is singing your favorite ballad From now on, there's no need to worry about all the worries in this mortal world anymore In the courtyard I plant lilacs - attractive purple flowers are blossoming I'm accompanying her here, I protect her entire life..
WELLINGTON (AFP) - Nine-year-old Jack Russell terrier George is being honoured with a posthumous bravery medal for saving five New Zealand children from an attack by two pitbulls.
The medal from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) comes after US Vietnam veteran Jerrell Hudman said he was sending his Purple Heart medal to George's owner after hearing of the dog's bravery.
George, who had a heart problem, won fame after defending five children from the pitbulls in the small North Island town of Manaia a week and a half ago. The two pitbulls rushed at the five children on the street, prompting George to charge the much larger dogs as the children escaped.
The Jack Russell was badly mauled by the two pitbulls and later had to be put down because of his extensive injuries. The two pitbulls were also put down.
The SPCA medal is usually awarded to people for their bravery in defending animals.
"George was a very brave little dog who almost certainly prevented severe injury, if not death, to at least one of the children," SPCA chief executive Robyn Kippenberger said.
"It's truly tragic that he paid with his own life for his instinctive act of courage."
Hudman, 58, of Austin, Texas was a US Marine for 30 years and said he decided to send his Purple Heart to George's owner Alan Gay after reading the news on the Internet because the dog was "a little warrior".
The Purple Heart is awarded to those killed or injured fighting for the US military.
This Quote is from Ghost Soldiers: The Forgotten Epic Story of World War II's Most Dramatic Mission by Hampton Sides:
"Captain Prince nervously craned his neck to learn what the delay was. He heard something strange, a chorus singing softly in the twilight. The tune was hard to make out at first, but then Prince caught it - "God Bless America," the familiar stanzas rendered in thickly accented English, the melody charmingly curdled with the occassional stale note. At the entrance to the town a few dozen teenage girls dressed in white gowns were singing in sad, sweet voices. It was a hastily arranged beauty pagent. The local school principal had gone door to door recruiting the prettiest young women from Platero and the surrounding countryside. Some of the girls slipped garlands of fresh sampaguita flowers over the Rangers' heads and offered welcoming kisses.
Behind this cordon of singers, the village bustled with the sounds of cooking and preparation. The town was planning a feast. People were slaughtering their chickens and cows, building fires, stirring vats of stew. The villagers had prepared a classic Filipino fiesta, with all the gaiety and spare-no-cost lavishness, everyone brimming with a warmth that would almost seem cloying if it wasn't so obviously sincere. Many of the Rangers welled with tears. That the people of Platero were throwing this kind of reception in the mist of war's misfortunes made their generosity all the more stirring."
This is the English version of the theme song to the Lazytown a health oriented childrens program - Just ask your toddler in 110 countries! (I won't tell if you bop to it when the Little One is asleep ^^) They also have Bing Bang in many languages on Youtube. The French version is real cute too! ^^
We only got a lot of wind here in San Diego... That was plenty though! Crazy weather here this year...
LOS ANGELES - Volatile weather swept through Southern California on Tuesday, delivering downpours, hail, snow, and fierce winds that capsized boats and toppled power lines and trees. Nearly 185,000 customers lost power.
The roof was torn off the Orange County Fire Authority's aviation building, and harbor patrol officers made rescues in Newport Bay and offshore.
Gusts up to 40 mph capsized a small powerboat and three outriggers, sheriff's Sgt. David Ginther said.
In Newport Bay, 24 members of a University of California, Irvine, rowing crew were thrown into the water when their boats flipped. Some swam ashore, and others were rescued, Ginther said.
A large section of roof laminate and asphalt tile landed on four cars and caused minor damage but no injuries, fire Capt. Stephen J. Miller said. Fire crews were responding to numerous reports of downed trees and power lines, he said.
"It was pretty crazy out there," Miller said. "I was driving on the freeway and saw many dust storms."
Snow also fell across a swath of mountains and desert.
The day dawned clear and breezy, but fast-moving clouds brought downpours that pelted parts of greater Los Angeles, then rapidly cleared again.
Strong winds accompanied by sporadic showers and hail were driven by a cold front that moved in from the north,
National Weather Service meteorologist Eric Boldt said.
About 165,000 Southern California Edison customers lost power, but only about 11,700 remained blacked out by late Tuesday, the utility said. Another 20,000 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers lost power, spokeswoman Kim Hughes said
