Oh dear, I have given up on even trying to write the final thesis of my MA dissertation, and given in to menopausal aches and insecurities, and gone on to KNIT
YES, glorious, knit.
First a sweater for Tosh, with some yarns an acquaintance had passed on to me when she needed an eye operation and was told to give up knitting...just a bit of each of blue, green brown and so on, in a wonderful soft alpaca merino mix. I also had some back yarn from a sale in blue alpaca mohair, and just went for a single moss stitch, alternating two rows of checkered squares with two rows of the blue, and wow! it looks really sort of japanese and subtle, almost like a woven fabric.
Hubs is over the moon, his first new sweater in something like three years, and he has worn it solid since. The my younger son pipes up and says, hey mum, if you're not studying, make me a school sweater, had to be navy or black but I want a V-neck collar stripe in the school colors (just to be different, really quite illegal, but if mum made it they can't say no sort of thing...)
I made a big mistake buying this really fine ozzie merino yarn which is tightly twirled, cos it took agggeeess to knit, but actually it wasn't a mistake, cos it looks gorgeous too and he says it's warm, plus i got it cos they said it wouldn't get fluffy balls. The navy was hard on the eyes, but it was really fun seeing the final thing, looking just like something out of a catalogue, with a dark green, blue and thin mud-colored stripe (twas gold on the crest, but hey, brown worked better for every day wear). Now to see if the love has any effect on the exam results???
I have ground to a halt as I ghost through my stash, and look for the next inspiration...oh to be on the go again, life was so easy as i just picked up the needles and the whole thing just flowed, no effort...just pure joy stitching and knitting!
i pray for a world of equality and freedom where we each know our own inner light and reclaim the projections of our own power and wisdom onto a teacher.

Remember to ask what the purpose of your actions is, and ask whether or not they help bridge the world of people closer to world peace or whether they are splitting the world into more factions.

No title today, just a vague wish to blog at tabulas...too tired for much else than frittering away the moments, but sleep not really an option even though it would probably be best. Stalling with the essay, I guess. Finally four down, five in the making, and absolutely no progress in the knitting field.
BUT the good news is I have a new Kasumi, a most amazing Italian Restaurant sweater with cat and windows and check table cloth, all the veggies on the arms, and reallll spaghetti , or at least so real it makes everyone come and try and pull it off the plate.
It's great cos it uses bits of various yarns i have given kasumi inbetweentimes, so it's not just the beauty of the garment itself, but all the tiny moments of shared enthusiasm it revives.
Yeah!
And now, bed.
