Yes, it's sad but true. I edit for three things: 1) scientific accuracy, sense, and style, 2) grammar, organization, and spelling, and 3) correct citation and formatting.
This is the main reason why I'm up at 1:30 AM on a schoolday.
It's a tiring and thankless job and it doesn't end. *sigh*
Sometimes the easiest and most reliable way to get something done is to do it yourself. Sadly, being part of a team in which this is ALWAYS true is a bummer of the first order. I, too, have a lot of things to do but I can't delegate this particular task because if I do, I know that the person I have to hand it to won't be able to do it--leading to extreme unpleasantness for the 200+ people involved .

After a week of puzzling over what to do with a class I'm having trouble relating to, I've decided to change the tone of the class to a more hands-on and student-centered learning session. Most of my classes have worked well with the active discussion model but there is just this one class that does not participate .
Fortunately, I think my participative class will also benefit from the more student-centered model so maybe it will be a win-win situation for all. I'll try to trim down the lecture days to 2 per week and incorporate as many other participative learning styles as I can. I hope this works.
