Dear MAC,

Bakit ba ang sosyal mo? Bakit ba ang mahal mo? high-maintenance ka ata. Hirap naman nun.. Wala akong pera para pasayahin ka. Di kita agad mabibilhan ng crystal case or mouse or bag na kasing cool mo.

Pero tangina ba't ba kasi ang gwapo mo, ha?

Tangina yang aluminium casing mong sobrang ganda napapalingon ako every time dumadaan ako ng Apple Center.  May nalalaman ka pang umiilaw na mansanas at keyboard. Vain mo talaga, tsong.

Tapos prinopromote ka pa nila joy. mabait ka daw.. masipag, mabilis.. hindi hassle.. yun nga lang mahal ka talaga.

Wala naman akong pera pero taena gusto ko na ulit magtrabaho mapa akin ka lang.

Dear SANTA,

Alam kong want ko lang si Mac, at di ko talaga siya need. At kaya lang ako nagccrave ng bagong laptop ngayon ay dahil pinapaayos ko pa si ROCKY.. haha. At gusto ko lang maging "cool" kasi cool si Mac. Loser ko kasi eh. Kawawa naman ako, loser na nga, sira pa laptop. haha. Salamat sa offer na bibilhan mo ako on-the-spot, pero feel ko di ko naman deserve yun na bibigyan mo lang ako just like that. Grad gift kaya? hahaha. Joke lang. Hati nalang tayo, santa. Nakakahiya naman sayo. Lahat nalang ng hinihingi ko since nung bata ako, binibigay mo talaga. hehe.

Ayun.. for now i guess papa-encode ko nalang kay boogie, will at drei yung floorplans ko. Sakto, tatlo sila at tatlo buildings ko. hehe. Tapos siguro tanong ko si joy kung mas mura bumili ng Mac sa Saudi, baka dun nalang. Kaso december na uuwi si joy at nakakahiya pa rin sayo. Pero ayun.. wag mo na munang isipin na kelangan ko ng Mac, or bagong laptop for that matter. Sana lang maayos na si ROCKY asap para makagawa na nga ako ng matinong thesis.

alright! before the hype wears off, i'd like to blog about THE most important day of my year.

KOMIKON 2008!

Well, okay..  it's in third place right after christmas and my birthday.. but you know what i mean. Komikon is the annual Philippine Komiks Convention  which is held at the UP Bahay ng Alumni. Like i said in my past entry, it's that day of the year when i have euphoric convulsions due to overexitedness and comic geekiness.

Isn't it amazing how it's already ONE YEAR since i first released my first issue? Time sure flies fast. I remember following taga-ilog around like a stalker and i almost died of a heart attack when he picked up my indie and bought a copy.. waaaaaiiii...

(well okay, it's not THAT much of a big deal since taga-ilog buys EVERY SINGLE indie komik there is.. anyway..)

SO MY DAY WENT LIKE THIS:

4:00 am - i woke up. (yeah, amazing huh?) Then i stapled my around 40 copies of both issues 1 and 2.

8:00 am - i was off to UP DILIMAN and was on an adventure in finding which jeep to ride.

9:00 am - i was already in the BAHAY NG ALUMNI...! whoa i was super early! hahaha. the con starts at 10, so i guess it's okay since i'm part of the sellers in the indie tiangge.

10:00 am - 7:00pm - KOMIKON 2008!!! yeah! hehe.

there were 4 of us in a single table. beside me was Kuya MICHAEL, one of the creators of ATOMIC UNDERGROUND. They're a quite famous group of indie creators who've won Culture Crash Comics' contest and was featured years ago. I was like.. OMG! Atomic Underground katabi ko! hahaha. Ayun, i actually had fun talking to him since we share the same views on why we create indie komiks.

He told me that it's true that they don't make much profit from indie comics, but what makes their group still release new issues is the fact that they love the feeling they get when people appreciate their work.

Another indie merchant near who was next to Kuya michael was Annabelle, and her friend Martha.. who by the way, is a fan of my work. (omg! is that true?? hahaha)

Sabi ni annabelle: "my friend told me that.. 'hey, i just love this! this is the best!' "

awww.. natuwa naman ako nun. hehe. ayun.

Lots of familiar people and friends were at the con:

MERU-CHAN was there and was selling like a GOD! hahaha. Super dami nyang nabenta.. from key chains, to button pins, to bookmarks, to YAOI doujins.. lahat mabenta! hahaha. Rich na sobra ng batang yun. hehe.

I bought from Meru-chan a yamamoto key chain, a yamamoto button pin, and a yamamoto bookmark, and an anthology comics with of course.. YAMAMOTO in it. hahaha. adikness.

Then there was Dana, or LAMBCHILD who came from as far as CAGAYAN DE ORO city. Cool, huh? We didn't speak bisaya to each other though.. hehe. She too sold stuff like a God! I think all of her comics SOLD OUT (even at 60/copy) and she was doing commissions the whole day. Her mom and sister was with her. So sweet of her mom to support her passion for comics.

(oh, hi mom! i didn't think you'd read this.. hahaha)

I've finally met OLD friends at Deviantart in person! People like BERNCE, THEI11, BUSTERCLOUD.. met famous DA people like STREYCAT, NOKOMENTO, WICKEDALUCARD.. etc.. Sam and Kleng were there with their girlfriends.. Liz and Aruki were there too! Thanks for dropping by guys! hehe.

Kat arrived around 12 i think and we roamed around the UBER-HOT and SWEATY convention hall.. hahaha. We ate at the *shining shimmering* ITALIAN RESTAURANT that has AIRCONDITIONING!!! hahaha. The pasta was really yummy and we had fun roaming around and managing the booth.

Last year, i just went around the con buying stuff instead of managing the booth.

THIS YEAR, i was the one at the booth doing most of the selling. Me and Kat were ADVERTISING STUDENTS that day and prepared all these ADS on cardboard stands which advertised all of iNorth's (our group) indies.. And i have to say, the pricelist and the ads were pretty useful, not to mention EYE CATCHING. hehehe. I could see a few people do a double-take on our booth, or stop by long enough and buy our komiks. There were other people managing the booth too like Eko and his girlfriend Iya (?)..

Ayun..

I went home around 7.. and i was happy with the results for my comics! Even though i've already sold at 3 major cons already, and komikon being the 4th one.. There were still a lot of people who bought my comics! hurray! hehehe. I was UBER TIRED and even felt like i'll get hit by a bus while walking home as i had no more brain cells or energy left in my body.. hehe. I dropped by Gateway and ate dinner at Jumbo Japs while reading KUBORI KIKIAM STRIPS FOR THE SOUL.. hahaha..

P***INA!

nakakatawa siya sobra! hahahaha. laughtrip sobra. ang bastos, ang ecchi, ang gago ng humor.. pero tawa ako ng tawa kahit sobrang pagod na ako. hehe.

Ayun.. wala na akong makwento.. or rather, masyado nang boring tong kwento ko kasi puro lang names ng mga taong nakita ko na hindi nyo naman kilala.. haha.. so.. wrap up ko na.

All in all, Komikon was no doubt, yet another great event that i'll remember for-evaaahhh. hahaha. I see that the Filipino Komiks Industry is seeing a revival. There are MORE ARTISTS this year producing MORE COMICS.. MORE FANS who support the local scene.. and there i can actually GREAT ART from new creators..

Which means i have to upgrade my own skills to keep up with the competition.. hahah. I'm not getting any younger, so my skills should get an upgrade. hehehe.

Of course, more than anything else.. after ONE WHOLE YEAR of being an "official" KOMIKERO.. my principle in komiks stays the same:

"It's not about the money we make, it's about the PASSIONS that we ache for.."

when someone has a surprisingly good day, i usually hear them say:

"naku, masama tong sobrang masaya.. baka may mangyaring masama.."

no, i don't really believe that one should get err.. punished for being too happy by something bad happening to them. it's just wrong, in my opinion.

but of course, coincidence as it may seem.. i could be wrong.

yesterday was KOMIKON 2008.. and yes, i did have a grand (but really tiring) time, but it was of course KOMIKON.. and KOMIKON = me having euphoric convulsions due to overexitedness and comic geekiness.

but i'll save the KOMIKON blog for later, when i'm in a better mood.

TODAY, my friends, is the DAY AFTER my HAPPY komikon day.

just SUCKED.

it's 1pm and it's been only 7 hours, since i've woken up. FIRST, when i woke up, i got a text message from aylah, asking me if my laptop (which DIED a couple of days ago) was already okay.

Well, even though yay said that it'll be back to normal after i let it rest for a couple of days..  and after i tried turning it on, it's STILL DEAD. DEAD and all my thesis book files and whatnots are still there. great, just great.

BAD EVENT #1: my laptop is still dead. 

So okay, i got up, got dressed and went on my way to TRINOMA, to the HP SERVICE CENTER to get my laptop fixed and hopefully bring my baby to life. I went down galle (the place where i live), and waited for an FX heading to trinoma.

(not so but still) BAD EVENT #2: my iPod's battery ran out.

Oh well, so much for music to kill my time commuting. Good thing the FX wasn't cramped, there was less traffic since it's a sunday and i got to trinoma pretty fast.

then comes

REALLY BAD EVENT #3: the HP shop is CLOSED FOR RENOVATION and will open on december.

Effing bad luck, huh? I checked and they don't have a makeshift store anywhere in trinoma. Being as frustrated as i am, i tried to call erf, or yay, or just about anyone who i can rant my laptop frustrations to.

So.. okay.. i was annoyed, it's a bad day, I NEED PASTA. I don't f-ing care anymore if i spend 500 bucks on fancy italian food.. I NEED my pasta. So i headed for veneto (an italian place).. and whaddaya know?

YET ANOTHER BAD EVENT #5: the place is packed, and there are people waiting in line outside.

So i went to CIBO.. for i know there aren't a lot of people eating there.. but ta-da..

YOU GUESSED IT #6: CIBO has closed for good. Oh how great can my day get, huh?

Losing my apetite for anything italian, i just went to the food court and ate at SMAIRU, a japanese fast food restaurant. Well okay, the food was just fine, the tofu tasted okay too.. but as i was chewing my food.. I felt something weird with my tongue..

OH YES IT DID #7: One of my teeth got chipped. Oh how fucking great this day has become.

...

And so, here i am at NETOPIA blogging about how effingly effing great this day is. I checked where the other HP service centers are and.. ta-da.. just as i thought..

#8: the HP service center in makati is CLOSED ON SUNDAYS. yipee. 

...

All that and the day has just begun. What's next after this, i don't really want to imagine. For i have a feeling that things just might get uglier as this day goes on.
